I am looking for one of the FAA FF helmets that were used during the 50s and 60s. They had an asbestos cape over a miners helmet, they had a plexiglass face piece and were secured with a piece of codline around the chest.
Please if you have knowledge of the whereabouts of one of these, please let me know. I need to take a sample of the cape for analysis.
They appear to have dissapeared overnight about the same time as asbestos was recognised as being carcinogenic!
