Hi
Vivid I  - In 1920 was the training at this shore establishment specific, concentrating on a paritcular aspect of the navy or was it training for overall seamanship? Pop was there for only two months, which seems a very short time.  Was it used as a general hub before sending all the young lads to various vessels?

Dumpling ...

VIVID was the name of the RN barracks at Devonport (it still exists, although nowadays known as HMS DRAKE); some training was conducted there, at that time I think it would have included some gunnery training.  If only there for two months I would imagine he was just there awaiting to be sent to his ship.

Hi.

HMS Vivid is (or rather was) the communication centre for the Navy at devonport and also the RNR base.  It was in devonport, near where the Cremyll ferry goes over to mt. edgecumbe.  Its not to be confused with HMS Raleigh which is in torpoint, cornwall...on the other side of the Tamar.
