I have a couple of photo's of my late father showing him serving aboard a Yugoslav submarine  "HM sub Neboshka". My father was a leading telegraphist and he had a RN officer with him. The remainder of the crew were Yugoslav.  I wonder if anyone can give more details as to how? why? when? etc;

Yugoslavia was occupied by German and Italian forces in 1941.  Several units of the Yugoslav navy escaped. One of them was the submarine "Nebosja", which went to Alexandria, Egypt.

She was then incorporated in the British 2nd Submarine Flotilla, and later with the 3rd Sub Flotilla, serving in the Med.

Foreign vessels serving in British Flotillas would routinely carry RN signals personnel.

Thanks for the info. I have a few pictures of my father in Alexandria, Egypt which sort of ties in with your info.

Thanks , Ken Nickson.
