Sally WILDFIRE - shore depot/base at Sheerness; in 1897 it was actually housed onboard the former 450 ton yacht Hiawatha, taken over by the Navy to use as a base ship. WALLAROO - cruiser, built by Armstrong (Tyneside)being launched 5 Feb. 1890 2575 tons 278ft x 41ft armed 8 x 4.7in guns As the name suggests, it was actually paid for by Australia (they were still a colony at the time) and she served in Aussie waters during her career. Built by Palmer (Tyneside) launched in November 1892. 1`4150 tons 410ft x 75ft armed 4 x 13.5in guns In April 1901 she was being used as a stationary depot ship at Weymouth. GALATEA = cruiser, built by Napier (Clyde) launched in March 1887. 5600 tons 300ft x 56 ft armed 2 x 9.2in guns in 1901-02 she was based at Hull, being used as a depot ship for the local reserves/Coastguard.
