| Author : | Topic: Use of special flags and pendants in naval signalling | Bottom |
| PhiloNauticus |
I cannot anwer all - particularly the coloured flags / pendants (apart from Black) but can offer explanations of the following: Negative = HOISTED IN ANSWER TO A SIGNAL, MEANING 'NO' or TO ANNUL OR COUNTERMAND A PREVIOUS ORDER (i.e. negative turn) Preparative = HOISTED SUPERIOR TO A SIGNAL TO MEAN PREPARE TO CARRY OUT THE MANOEUVRE Interrogative Pendant = HOISTED SUPERIOR TO A SIGNAL TO ASK A QUESTION (i.e. can I .....) Numeral Pendant - DESIGNATES NUMBERS FOLLOWING The only site I have found with any useful info is this one: http://www.jproc.ca/rrp/rrp2/visual_flags.html |

Thank you to PhiloNauticus for information and in particular for identifying the link to the very useful and interesting visual signalling web site. Regards Dave |
