Anyone know where & what HMS Neptune was in 1953.

..it's me again.  NEPTUNE in 1953 was the name given to the Reserve Ships at Chatham.  At that time the Senior Officer Reserve Fleet and his staff would have been housed onboard the DUNCANSBY HEAD.

Philo', you certainly are a boffin!! I was thinking it might have been the Clyde Naval Base.

Your defenition fits much better as he must have been doing discharge routine at that time between MARS & PEMBROKE.
