Hello, I'm researching my dads ww2 service record and was wondering if there are any Royal Navy DEMS gunners out there. I paid for and received a copy of his record, but it has thrown up so many more questions than answers. I understand from others doing the same that they all have received photo-copies of the actual records etc, but I only got a typed record which has simple spelling and date mistakes on it.Also on the couple of crew lists that I have been able to obtain from the N. A., my dads name isn't on them. I have been on the Mercantile Marine website [which is very informative and helpful], but I don't know where's best to look as my dad was Royal Navy, but was on Merchant ships. Any help or advice would be welcomed, thanks.

My Dad was a DEMS gunner he was Royal Navy But i sent his details to the war office and they told me to send the money to get his record, but they sent it me back and said they were unable give me any information at this time. That was about ten years ago so who when did you send for your dads details?.
I tried for a couple of years to get information but seem to hit a blank wall. so i would be grateful if you could give me the address were you got your records from. Regards Daryl Collinson.
