My Father   has these sites on his RN Record of Service.
The first 8th Dec 1939 - 31st Jul 1945 and the second 1st Aug 1945 - 15th Oct 1945. He was an Ldg Tel (TY). What were these sites for and what was he doing ?
I hope someone may be able to help since I have some more questions. All part of a Family Tree Project to go onto DVD with appropriate music.
Many thanks,  Stewart

SPARROWHAWK = Royal Navy Air Station at Hatston on Orkney

TERN II = satellite stations on Orkney, at Skaebrae, Dounreay and Hatston, connected to Sparrowhawk.

Ldg Tel - Leading Telegraphist ( = radio operator in other words).

TY usually means 'temporary' i.e. he was not confirmed in his rate of Leading Tel.
