SPARROWHAWK = Royal Navy Air Station at Hatston on Orkney TERN II = satellite stations on Orkney, at Skaebrae, Dounreay and Hatston, connected to Sparrowhawk. Ldg Tel - Leading Telegraphist ( = radio operator in other words). TY usually means 'temporary' i.e. he was not confirmed in his rate of Leading Tel. |
